The Memorial Hermann (MH) RN Fellowship Model is a six month program that follows guidelines established by leading authorities supporting transition programs for a newly graduated BSN Registered Nurse (RN). This program is a non-employment model that offers the new graduate nurse an opportunity to participate in a unique clinical development program.  As part of this Fellowship, the novice RN will train with seasoned staff in a pre-determined specialty and will be able to take advantage of classroom instruction offered exclusively to RNs within MH.
A monthly stipend of $1,500 will be offered along with allowances for uniforms, meals and parking.
Program Objectives 
During the Fellowship, the RN will:
  • Practice technical, clinical reasoning, interpersonal and professional skill sets achieved through basic baccalaureate education.
  • Refine skill sets in respective specialties to enhance work-readiness through immersion and mentorship.
  • Improve interdisciplinary communication skills.
  • Augment clinical knowledge in respective specialty field.

  • New graduates from an accredited BSN program (less than or equal to one year experience as a new graduate nurse)
  • Current Texas RN license by start date
  • Current BLS Certification at start date
Application/Selection Process
  1. Applicants will submit a formal application along with a current resume and letters of reference.
  2. Applications will be reviewed and screened by the Fellowship Team.
  3. Acceptable applicants will be invited for a panel interview comprised of Memorial Hermann in applicable specialty area.
  4. RN Fellows will be selected from the applicant pool.
  5. Fellowship position contingent upon successfully completing a background check and occupational health screen.
Time Line
  • Application deadline is July 1, 2014.
  • Interviews will be conducted  May 1 - July 25, 2014.
  • Final selection will be made by July 28, 2014.
  • Background checks and Occupational Health Screening occurs  August 5 - Agust 29, 2014.
  • Final day for $500 Registration fee payment is September 3, 2014.
  • Fellowship Orientation will be held September 4-5, 2014.
Registration Fee
Upon acceptance into the program, Fellows will pay a $500 registration fee.
